An Essay:My Lovely Hometown

I come from Payakumbuh. It is a small town. It is about 4 hours from Padang by bus. There are three things that make me proud, this town is my hometown.
First, this town is place where we can find so many traditional foods. Gelamai is the most popular one. It is made of coconut milk and palm sugar. The taste is sweet and delicious. Bareh randang is also originally from Payakumbuh. Like its name, this food is made of rice flour and palm sugar. My favorite one is Batiah. It is made of rice. It has round shape and brown color. The taste is not too sweet.
Payakumbuh has some tourist attractions. They are Harau, Ngalau Indah, Batang Tabit, Aia Lanteh and Kapalo Banda. Harau is the place to see beautiful waterfalls and amazing scenery. Beside that if you are interested in climbing wall, Harau is a great place. It has sheer-walled canyon with world-class climbing. Ngalau indah is also the place for people who enjoy amazing scenery. This place has swimming pool too, so we can swim there. The other place for swimming is Batang Tabit. The unique one is Aia Lanteh; Aia Lanteh- passing water is a small river. It is not like other rivers. The water does not flow from high place to lower place. It is from low to high. Kapalo Banda is an irrigation system that was built during the colonization of Dutch in Indonesia, and it is still being used until this day after certain renovations, so the populations of Taram can water their rice fields throughout the year. We can enjoy riding the bamboo raft to travel through the river into the forest where we can smell the pure scents of trees and plants. It can be an outstanding experience if you love wildlife and nature.
Third, payakumbuh is very clean and beautiful. The street has many trees on the right and left side. It makes the air become fresh and healthy.
I believe that everyone has reason why they are proud of their hometown. So do I. Food, tourist attraction and scenery of Payakumbuh are my reasons.
