How to Write a Review Essay

Review essay is an essay to show your critical analysis. It is an evaluation or your opinion about something that is reviewed. It can be a movie, a concert, a book, an article, a piece of art and etc. A review essay must clearly state your opinion and why you feel that way.

Generic Structure

1.       Introductory

You should make the reader interested to the essay by using this paragraph. It contains information about the work that is reviewed, for example, if you review a book, you need to include the title, author and date of publication of the book. Of course, it also contains thesis statement which says what you feel about the work.

2.       Body

In body paragraph, there are two sections. First, it is a brief summary. Don’t use half part of essay for this section. The other is critical discussion, which evaluates contribution the work/ the book has made in the discipline areas in which it is written.

3.       Conclusion

In conclusion, you restate the thesis, show the strengths and weaknesses of the work, and show comparison between authors work and your perception/ interpretation.

Preterm birth refers to the birth of babies who are less than 37 weeks in the womb. It is commonly called premature birth. This is the major cause of neonatal mortality in developed countries. That is because they have high risk of death in the first year of life. They have several health problems that occur in this period.

The most common problem is respiratory problem. That is because lung is one of the last organs which develop in pregnancy. A common respiratory problem for them is respiratory distress syndrome (RDS). According to Martin J.A in Final Data for National Statistic Report, about 23.000 babies a year, most of them are born before the 34^th week of pregnancy, suffer from this breathing problem. Babies with RDS lack a protein called surfactant. It keeps small air-sac, alveolus, in the lungs from collapsing. Treatment with surfactant helps them breathe more easily. However, the sickest baby needs the help of a ventilator to breathe while their lungs mature.
