Real Steel
Boxing is an entertaining sport for some people although it
is tough. In some view, it will be more interesting if it is tougher. However,
as long as the boxer is a human being, rules are needed. What do you say if the
boxer is robot? Can we have a match which does not have rules? Yes, probably.
Real steel is a movie which brings us to future (I mean imagination).
This movie is directed by Shawn Levy and released by Touch Stone and Dream
Works on 28 October 2011 in Indonesia. The main characters are Hugh Jackman as
Charlie Kenton, Dakota Goyo as Max Kenton and Evangeline Lilly as Bailey
Tallet.
Charlie, who used to be a boxer, has nothing except his
robot, Aumbush, and some debts. He tries
to make money by using his robot, but he gets nothing. It just destroys
Aumbush. Suddenly, he has to attend court to take the custody of his son, Max,
or gives it to his wife’s sister. When he gets there, he realizes that his wife’s
sister is very rich. He asks 100 thousand dollars to her husband so that he will
let them take care of Max, but Max must be with him until summer is end. He
agrees and gives 50 for first.
Charlie uses the money to buy a robot called Noisy Boy. He
and Max go to a kind of stadium where robots do boxing, to fight and get money.
Unfortunately, Noisy boy is lost and destroyed. At that night, Max falls from
cliff, but he is saved by a robot arm. He insists to take that robot home.
Without Chatlie’s help, he spends all night to dig and take it out.
The robot name is Atom. It has wonderful abilities, not like
other robot, it can imitate its owner movements. With Atom, Charlie and Max
start their success in robot boxing and making money. They are invited to fight
in Liga, which means they get opportunity to fight with Zeus, number one and invincible
boxing robot. The conflict begins when Charlie’s old friend, Ricky, comes and
beats up them. He and his friend also take their money. Charlie spends his
night thinking, and he decides to shorten his time with Max. He gives him back
to Debra in the morning. Max is really disappointed.
Bailey suggests him to say his apology to Max. He comes to
Debra’s house and says it. Max says that he want Atom fight Zeus. The match is
5 rounds. Atom shows his courage. Zeus cannot beat him easily, but in fourth
round, Atom system control is broke. He cannot respond Charlie’s order. So, in
last round Charlie uses Atom specialty. He does boxing outside the ring so that
Atom can fight Zeus until end. Zeus is saved by bell. No robot is KO in ring. Zeus
is the winner because of his point.
Winning is not only about score and achievement. It is about others
respect and happiness being the best. The winner is not always the best, but
the best one is absolute winner no matter he gets trophy or not.
