Studying,
Working or Both?
Nowadays, many college
students work while they are studying. The reason why they do it is mostly
economic condition. In fact, working while you are studying brings some advantages.
First of all, you get salary.
It makes you can run your life independently. You do not only depend on the
allowance given by your parents. It is not necessary to ask some money to your
parents for buying something if your allowance is used up. As we know, we need
much money when we are studying at college. Paying semester’s fee, buying
books, rent a room; that all spend a lot of money. So, when you get salary from
your part time job, you can help your parents, at least for buying books.
The second advantage, you
gain new ability not only the skill related to your job, but also other skills.
For example, when you work at Samba Lado- restaurant that serves Padang’s food,
you need to know how to package rice well. This skill is related to your job.
Beside that, you have to be able managing your time well. It is because you work while you are
studying. You can not only spend your time for working, and forget about
studying. The skill for managing your time, how much for studying and how much
for working, is not related to your job.
In addition, if you
work while you are studying you will know many new people, outside people in
your studying environment. It is good to make a lot of friends. Someday, when
you need a help, there will be some friends for you.
In short, I believe
those students who work while they are studying get more than they who do not.
They get more money, experiences and friends. So, let’s be a part-time worker!
