17 Again
Life is not easy. Once we get problem, and other time we
achieve happiness. I want to ask a question. Have you ever felt really
disappointed and said that if you were able to come back to the past, you would
have run your life differently? If your answer is yes, I want to ask you
another question. Are sure that you will make a change?
To answer that question, I suggest you to watch 17 Again.
This movie is directed by Burr Steers and released by New Line Cinema on 17
April 2009 in USA. The main character is Zac Efron as Mike O’Donnell. He is a very
talented basketball player when he was in Senior High School. The story begins
when he has a match to get scholarship. Before the match is begun, his date,
Scarlett tells him that she is pregnant. Mike does not continue playing and go
to ask Scarlett to marry him. Years is passed, Mike’s life is mess. He will get
divorced soon. He has blamed Scarlett for whole time in their marriage due to
his failure. He thinks that he would have better life if he got the scholarship.
One day he goes to his school, he imagines if he is 17
again. He believes that he would take different option. An old man suddenly
asks him, “Are you sure?” Then in evening, he is driving to his friend house,
Ned. He sees the man seems will jump from bridge. He gets off to help. When he
arrives at Ned’s house, he has become teenager. He then realizes that he is not
a good father. He does not know that his son has problem in socializing. He
also does not know that his daughter is dating a jerk. He helps the children
solve problem and then realize how much he loves his family, especially how
much he loves his wife.
The event in last minute in this movie is exactly same with
event in the beginning. It is when Mike is in basketball match. Even though,
Mike has chance to come back to his past, in the end he still make the same
decision. So guys, regret the past is useless. Just be grateful for what you
have today, and keep it! Yesterday is a history, tomorrow is mystery, but today
is a gift. That is why we call it present.
